In the September, Sonny and Cher were at number one with 'I got you babe', The Beatles were at number 2 with 'Help' and the Rolling Stones sat at number 3 with '(I can't get no) Satisfaction'. (In those days, these things mattered!)
A gallon of petrol was 6s 2d; a pint of beer cost 2s 4d; average house price was £3,344.
